Renewable infrastructure

Modelama was founded in 1979 with a goal to build a woven garment manufacturer from India that could compete on the same terms as anywhere else in the world, by investing in infrastructure before chasing volume.
About Modelama
1979
Lalit Gulati started Modelama on the premise that Indian manufacturing could meet international retail standards if the systems behind it were built properly.
1980s-90s
Rather than scale fast, Modelama reinvests in infrastructure built to survive downturns rather than chase whatever order comes in next.
2000s
Advanced production technology and international export alignment bring Modelama closer to the compliance and documentation standards global retailers expect.
2010s
Skill development and formal compliance frameworks get embedded across every facility.
2000-2015
The promoter never looked back when the garment industry stabilised, and was simultaneously driving towards diversified sectors — Real Estate, Automobile, Energy, Retail, and Jewellery.
Today
Modelama runs as one manufacturing ecosystem across India and Indonesia, serving 40+ markets.
From inception, we prioritised structured systems over short-term scaling. The objective was clear: build a manufacturing institution capable of enduring market cycles. Over time, we have evolved into an integrated manufacturing ecosystem serving established global markets.

Chairman's message
When I founded Modelama in 1979, the intention was not simply to build a garment factory. It was to create a manufacturing institution.
Manufacturing demands responsibility. It demands systems that outlast economic cycles. It demands integrity in compliance and discipline in execution.
Over four decades, we have invested in infrastructure, technology and people. Growth has been structured. Expansion has been measured.
As India strengthens its global manufacturing position, Modelama remains committed to representing Indian industry with credibility and responsibility. The future of manufacturing belongs to disciplined institutions that prioritize sustainability, governance and long-term partnerships.
